Half-Life 2 Episode 2 single player level shipped as part of the level design event "Ravenholmville"
Level overview : The player has to activate three power stations in order to power up the cable car to exit the area.
Level progression : After an (awful) introduction scripted scene, the player follows a linear path to the first electrical station. After this the level becomes open but directed, with many areas providing shortcuts into earlier parts of the level.
Headcrab pod crashed into a tower. A simple thing but almost all players commented that they loved this little touch.
Vertical progression in the church, with the electrical station on the roof as the goal.
Grenade trap. The tripwire can be broken by anything crossing it. Eagle eyed players can retrieve the grenade without setting off the trap!
Cable car station. This is the final objective the player has to reach when they have activated all 3 power stations.
A zombie. His name was Bill.
Players must find the gravity gun before they can enter the church
One of the problems with this level is that the objectives were all located on roof tops. No matter how sparkly I made the electric effects, players would rarely if ever look up to see them!
Lighting, decals and the slightly open door used to guide the player on the correct path.
At the end of the level the player rides a makeshift cablecar along these tracks to exit the level. The player gets a nice vista as they move through all the areas they conquered!
Door left ajar so that the player is afforded the opportunity to spot the grenade trap on the other side.
